In Memory of Alice Wagner (1933-2024)
A family held memorial service will be held in Sallisaw, May 18, 2024, for our beloved mother and friend, Mrs. Alice Wagner.
Family and friends are invited to the service being held at 11 a.m. at The Way Church (formerly Bethel Baptist Church) located at 124 South Wheeler Avenue in Sallisaw.
Born into a rural farming family of 13 children in Brent, Oklahoma, Alice spent her life in beautiful Green Country and the Arkansas River Valley area for 90 years, where she worked many jobs but was forever and primarily devoted to her home and family.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Russell, and several of her siblings. We are confident she is now rejoicing with them in Heaven.
She is survived by her children, Alicia Conner-Todd of Tulsa, her husband Jackson, and children William Todd and Alicesun Todd; Merna Conner of Fort Smith, her child Chanda Baker; Chris Conner of Sallisaw, his children Cassie Norris and Grant Conner; and Lynnia Watkins of Alma, her husband Michael, and children Jessica Wade, McKenzie Maynard, Ella Watkins, and Aubree Watkins. Alice was also thankful to have known her six great-grandchildren.
Her family and many in the community were blessed by her generosity- gifts from her large garden, senior care for elderly neighbors, childcare for numerous children, rides to and from church services, and the abundant love she provided to countless children in the nurseries of area churches. Known lovingly as "Grandma Alice," those whose lives she touched with her presence will remember her wonderful cooking, the reading and telling of stories, and teachings about life through her kind but firm sensibilities, and her dedication to her Lord and Saviour, Christ.
In lieu of flowers and in loving memory of Alice, donations to Clarehouse Hospice (7617 S. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133) would be appreciated, and/or a donation of a Christian children's book can be made to The Way Church- children's nursery.
