Anita Louise Orians

Heaven gained another angel when Anita Louise Orians, 87, of Sylvania, passed away surrounded by her loving family Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Kingston of Sylvania.

Anita was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Carey, to Giles and Mary Louise (Morrow) Simonis. She graduated from Carey High School in 1954. She married James Orians on Sept. 13, 1957, with whom she celebrated 49 blessed years of marriage before his death in 2006. Anita enjoyed time spent with her family and raised her children in a home filled with love.

A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Joesph's Church, Tiffin, and served as a volunteer at St. Joesph's School. Anita sewed outfits for her daughters, served as her son's Cub Scout Leader, and never passed up an opportunity to take her children ice skating. In 1973, she moved to Fremont where she was a member of Red Hat Club and Sacred Hearts Women's Club.

Anita and James spent summers at Lake Erie and winters in Florida where they enjoyed boating, cards with friends, and playing board games with grandchildren. She always found a way to make ordinary moments extra special. Afternoons with grandchildren were spent by the pool, at Cedar Point, or enjoying a picnic at the park. Sleepovers always included donuts, building forts, and baking cookies.

Anita is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Cook; son, James (Lori) Orians; son-in-law, Steve Hahn; and grandchildren, Aaron (Paige) Cook, Daniel Cook, Kiley (Hartwell) Marable, Nathan (Gloria) Cook, Samuel and Lucas Orians, Corey (Zack) Holmes, and Laura (David) Vargo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Lou Hahn; sister, Marilyn Reuter; brothers, Richard and Robert Simonis; and grandson, Benjamin Orians.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 North Main Street, Sylvania. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main Street, Sylvania, with additional visitation from 9-10 a.m. Private burial will take place for family at Saint Mary Cemetery, Carey.
