Anna M. Schumm

Anna M. Schumm, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

She was born May 27, 1934, in New Riegel, to Aloys M. and Bertha M. (Wrasman) Kimmet. She married Thomas L. Schumm on Feb. 9, 1963, and he preceded her in death May 21, 2018.

Anna's survivors include her son, Tony (Sherri) Schumm of Radnor; daughter, Margaret (Philip) Steyer of Tiffin; son-in-law, Don Lucius of Tiffin; brother, Herman (Nancy) Kimmet of New Riegel; sister, Clara Welly of New Riegel; six grandchildren, Nick (Meagan) Steyer, Andrew Schumm, Brianna Lucius, Daniel Steyer, Aaron (Lex) Lucius, and Matt Schumm; and great-grandson, Landon Steyer.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Mary Lucius.

Anna was a 1953 graduate of New Riegel High School. After graduation, she cared for many families welcoming newborns in the New Riegel and Tiffin area. Anna also joined her husband as a seasonal worker at J.J. Fleck company where they both helped produce Easter egg dye kits for many years. She was a devoted member of Tiffin St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active volunteering and helping out at the festival. While residing at St. Francis, Anna was a regular attendee at All Saints Parish via LiveStream. Anna enjoyed playing cards, needlepoint, following Major League Baseball, especially Detroit Tigers, and she was an Ohio State University fan.

Anna was well-loved and had many friends. She enjoyed visiting with everyone, and most importantly, her family. She loved spending time with them and going to all her grandchildrens' activities. Anna spent the last years of her life at St. Francis Nursing Home where she made many friends and brought joy and comfort to many other residents. The staff at St. Francis enjoyed Anna's humor and infectious laughter.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the St. Joseph upper room.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Senior Ministries, F.A.C.T., Masses at St. Joseph Catholic Church and All Saints Parish, or charity of the donor's choice.
