Anthony Hammer Obituary
Anthony J. "Tony" Hammer Jr., 81, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Oct. 10, 2022.
He was born Nov. 23, 1940, in Fremont. He grew up in Green Springs where he met the love of his life, Ruth Ann Lee. They were married Oct. 1, 1960, and very recently happily celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They were fortunate enough to retire at a young age, which allowed them to travel with family and to visit family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann; three children, Kay (Brent) Hart of Lake Ann, Michigan, Anthony "Tony" (Laurie Purvis) J. Hammer III of Jupiter, Florida, and Sherri (Mark) Gallagher of Indiantown, Florida; six grandchildren, Jessica (Daryl) Billy, Anthony (Tausha) J. Hammer IV, Eric Chestnut, Casey (Michelle) Chestnut Marcus, Kyle Chestnut, and Derek Hart; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother.
He graduated from Green Springs High School and then began working for Miller Pipeline. That lead him to Indiana where he began working as a supervisor with Richmond Gas Company in Richmond, Indiana, for 25 years. He was member of American Legion Post #62. After retiring, he spent his time doing general home maintenance, woodworking, and watching Ohio State football, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, Florida, 33458. Tony's funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the center. Tony's graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Road, Tequesta, Florida, 33469.
