Archie C. Baker
Archie C. Baker, 82, of Risingsun, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at Promedica Toledo Hospital.
He was born Dec. 21, 1940, in Pemberville, to the late Cecil and Minnie (Cupp) Baker. Archie married Carol B. Wilhelm on Jan. 10, 1961, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bowling Green.
Archie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol; four children, Michael (Kathy) Baker of
Hinckley, Ohio, Deborah (Tim) Powell of
Martinsville, Indiana, Daniel Baker of
Grabill, Indiana, and Gina Baker of Bowling Green; sister-in-law, Grace Ann Baker of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Amber, Brian, Cassadie, Sarah, Jack, and Jonathan; stepgrandson, Eric; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Minnie; two brothers, Eugene (Dorothy) Baker and Melvin Baker; three sisters, Evelyn (Elbert) Bomer, Beulah (Lowell) Greulich, and Alice (James) Vitte; and four nephews, Floyd Bomer, Joseph Greulich, Jerry Vitte, and David Greulich.
Archie was a 1959 graduate of Westwood High School and then worked at Atlas Crankshaft for 30 years and Norton's Manufacturing for eight years in Machine Operating set-up. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and among many hobbies over the years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, biking, and DIY (do-it-yourself) projects. He was a former little league coach and avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan. His greatest love in life was spending time with his family. Archie will always be remembered for his fun sense of humor.
Friends will be received 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with Father Poggemeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Wood County Memorial Gardens near Bowling Green.
