Arleen M. Elchert

Arleen M. Elchert, 94, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 26, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Tiffin, to Russel and Mildred (Schmidutz) Nye. Arleen married Thomas Elchert Sr. on Nov. 25, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Arleen's survivors include a son, Gregory Elchert of Tiffin; daughters, Teresa Moore and Vicki Sturgill Connor, both of Tiffin; daughters-in-law, Deborah Elchert of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Suzanne (Jim) Black of Tiffin; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas, in 1979; sons, Thomas Elchert Jr. in 1982 and Michael Elchert in 2021; brother, Dale R. Nye; sisters, Doris "Dolly" Luidhardt and Shirley Samsel; and a great-grandchild.

Arleen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a 1946 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. She worked at General Electric for years, enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre and rummy, doing word search puzzles, yard work and being at home. Most of all, she loved being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Arleen's funeral will be 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at Hoffman-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin, with the Rev. Matthew Radar officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or an area dialysis center or lung treatment center.
