Barbara Borer Obituary

Barbara E. Borer

Barbara E. "Barb" Borer, 87, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, August 1, 2025, at St. Francis Home. Barb was an angel walking among us on earth. Her hugs healed hearts. Her smile a ray of sunshine. She was a messenger of God. Barb always gave to others before herself and treated everyone with deep respect and sincere kindness.

She was born December 31, 1937, in Defiance, to Bernard and Lorene (Keller) Michaels. She was raised by her foster parents, Harold and Loretta (Fleck) Collet. On July 31, 1965, in St. Mary Catholic Church, she married Louis B. Borer, and he preceded her in death April 28, 2024. Together for over 75 years, the timing was a gift from above. Barbara was reunited with her true love, Louie, just 55 minutes after their 60th wedding anniversary. God wrapped a beautiful bow around their love story.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen G. (Marlene Parker) Borer of Tiffin and Anthony J. (Kelly) Borer of Columbus; daughters, Theresa M. (Matthew) Dysard of Tiffin and Angela R. (Brian) Meek of Broadview Heights; brother, Ian Hurst of Fostoria; brother-in-law, Richard Downs of Tiffin; sister-in-law, Dianne Moehrman of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Sebastian (Mariah) Borer, Gavin and Jaidyn Borer, Ella and Lilly Dysard, Adler and Evelyn Meek, Matthew Fields and Kyle Stewart; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; and brothers, Charles Michaels, James Michaels and Don Seitz; and sisters, Louisa Brickner and Ruth Downs.

Barb was a 1956 graduate of Calvert High School and attended Mary Manse College. She was a nun, Sr. Francesca, at St. Francis Convent for eight years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rosary Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister, Mass Coordinator, Lector, funeral planner, RCIA leader, Bereavement Counselor and Church Secretary. Barb was also secretary and treasurer for St. Mary Catholic Cemetery and volunteered at Mercy Hospital and with HIV/AIDS support group. She was commissioned by Diocese of Toledo in Ministry Formation after completing their three-year program.

Although Barb suffered from alzheimer's/dementia, she never lost the memory of her love for her family nor her God. It brought her great joy to attend Mass twice weekly at St. Francis Chapel. She read the Bible daily and reflected on it in a prayer journal. She never met a stranger and left everyone she met with the words, "Angels surround and protect you." Barb dedicated her life to her Catholic faith and serving others. Trumpets sounded as she approached. She has achieved her ultimate goal in life to meet her friend, Jesus, face-to-face and live eternally in His kingdom alongside her family.

Her Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Christian burial will be at a later date at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be private.

Memorial contribu-tions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or F.A.C.T.
