Barbara L. Harris
Barbara L. (Scarbrough) Harris, 76, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023.
Barbara was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Toledo, to Carl F. Scarbrough and Clara I. (Clay) Scarbrough, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Kelley (John) Maynard of Ohio and their children, Ashley and Allison, and Stephanie (Pat) Reetz of Michigan and their children, Eric, Robert, and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Livia and Wyatt; and loving brother, Fred (Mickey) Scarbrough of Florida.
Barbara graduated from Maumee Valley High School in 1965 and attended University of Arizona, later continuing her education at University of Toledo and University of Findlay. Barbara was a longtime resident of Tiffin where she raised her children and lived for over 50 years developing many long-lasting friendships. Barbara was a paralegal and worked in the legal system for a number of years. She was employed by Seneca County Juvenile Court and private law firms. Later, she transitioned into financial services with American Funds Group where she helped support local Ohio brokers. In retirement, Barbara volunteered with
The Parkinson's Foundation of Northwest Ohio where she was a driving force. She was a board member and secretary until she could no longer fulfill her role. Barbara was the long-time chairman of Parkinson's Disease Annual Gala where her efforts helped raise significant funding for both the treatment and research of Parkinson's Disease.
Barbara had many hobbies. She was an avid reader and enjoyed movies. Barbara loved art and studied watercolor painting. She collected botanicals and related art prints, often painting these flowers. A fan of classical music, Barbara began studying the cello after her Parkinson's diagnosis. She survived Parkinson's Disease for over 20 years after her diagnosis and actively supported others in their PD fight.
Barbara's burial service will be private at Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg, at a later date. There will be no visitation.
