Barbara Harvey Obituary
Barbara Mary (Kummerer) Harvey, 76, of Gibsonburg, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born Aug. 9, 1946, in Tiffin, to Cletus and Leona (Schetter) Kummerer. Barbara was a 1964 graduate of Calvert High School. She married Charlie R. Harvey on Feb. 27, 1976, and he preceded her in death July 4, 2017.
Barbara loved being with her family, whether it was for the holidays or for random family gatherings with her children and her grandchildren. She enjoyed going out to eat with her sisters, traveling and fishing with Charlie, and taught Sunday School at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Helena when the kids were young. Barbara was known for her great sense of humor and for her love of books.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bob Gill, Alan (Pam) Gill, Rex (Patty) Harvey, Steve Harvey, Lee Harvey, and Eric (Rosemary) Harvey; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Diane (John) Beaverson, Tom (Janet Way) Kummerer, Jane (Dan) Bush, and Martha (Charles) Gibson; and nieces and nephews, John Beaverson Jr., Samantha Szymanski, Jennifer Schroder, Brian Kummerer, Dan Bush Jr., Eric Bush, Abigail, Aaron, and Andrew Gibson, Kim Matheny, Laura Louder.
Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey Metz; grandchildren, Joshua and Justin Harvey; and brother, Dave Kummerer.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, until the time of Barbara's funeral at 12 p.m. at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, Ohio, 43431. Pastor Charlene Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery. For those unable to attend, live streaming of her services will be available by following the link on her obituary page.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gibsonburg Birchard Public Library, 100 N. Webster Street, Gibsonburg, or Great Lakes Community Action Partnership by visiting www.glcap.org/donate/.
