Barbara A. Myers
Barbara A. Myers, 91, of Cleveland, New York, moved on to her heavenly home Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis D. Myers Jr.
Barbara was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Tiffin, the youngest child of Mildred and Charles M Yambert. She graduated from Columbian High School and Heidelberg College with a BA in Education/Business Comprehensive. She married Louis D. Myers Jr. on Aug. 15, 1954, in Tiffin. They lived in Ohio until they moved to Utica, New York, and finally settled in the Cleveland-Jewell area in 1975.
Barbara began her career as a high school business teacher at Galion High School. She also maintained the books for Tiffin Presbyterian Church. After moving to Utica, Barbara raised their four daughters and was the treasurer for New Hartford Presbyterian Church, New Hartford, New York. Upon moving to Cleveland, New York, she worked at Robert Jones International and then Laribee Wire, Camden, New York, in Accounts Payable/Receivable. Barbara then started her own bookkeeping company, Simple Bookkeeping, and was bookkeeper for Town of Vienna and Bob's Mini-Mart.
Barbara was very strong in her faith. She was baptized at and a member of the Methodist church in Tiffin. While in Utica, she was a member of New Hartford Presbyterian Church. She became a member of Cleveland United Methodist Church, Cleveland, New York, after her move to the area. There, she played the piano for the church as well as assisted with Sunday School, VBS, and attended Bible Study. While raising her four daughters, Barbara was involved in PTA, Girl Scouts, AFS, and Music Boosters. She loved to play the piano and enjoyed family music sessions with her daughters and husband. She raised Labrador Retrievers for several years and was very fond of her many cats.
Barbara is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Michael Schneeberger of Reading, Pennsylvania, Rebecca and Eric Hirsh, Mystic, Connecticut, Monica and Charles Hull of Baldwinsville, New York, and Brenda and Robert Brookins of Cleveland, New York; eight grandchildren, Laura (Robert) Cornish, Ethan (Catie) Hirsh, Amber (Daniel) Brooks, Meghan (Daniel) Tedesco, Kelley Hull, Emerald (Ryan) Holzwarth, Benjamin (Kristen) Brookins, and Cole (Samantha) Brookins; and five great-grandchildren.
Barbara's funeral was Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at Cleveland United Methodist Church, Cleveland, New York. Friends and family are invited to gather for her graveside committal service at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Oakwood Cemetery, 835 Kaler Ave., Bucyrus, Ohio, 44820.
Arrangements are in care of LaRobardiere Funeral Home in Camden, New York, and Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
