Benjamin James Nighswander

Benjamin James "Ben" Nighswander, 49, of Tiffin, found peace with his loving Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024.

He was born Sept. 29, 1974. Ben was a 1993 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School where he was on the football and wrestling teams. He studied Architectural Engineering at Terra Community College.

Ben was the owner of OTB Technology and invented the OTB remote control racecar gears that were very popular among RC racecar enthusiasts throughout the country. Later, he worked as a train engineer for CSX Railroad with his railroad career lasting 18 years.

Ben was a highly intelligent, loving, kind, humorous, inventive, and giving person until mental illness took that away from him. He was loved and appreciated by his family and friends.

Ben is survived by his parents, Beau and Nancy Nighswander of Tiffin; sister, Maleah (Shayne) Wells of Tiffin; nephew, Griffin Wells of Tiffin; daughter, Tyler (Matt Upton) Slemmer of Tiffin; grandchildren he was the perfect grandfather to, Willow and Barrett; love of his life, Lori Dixon Nighswander of Tiffin; stepchildren, Samantha (Chase) Turner of North Carolina, Corey Williams of New Hampshire, Hannah Williams of Tiffin, and Faith (Brandon) Martinez of Hawaii; stepgrandchildren, Leo, Noah, and Molly Turner, Zayne Williams-Jones, Nathan Jones, and Alora Martinez; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and cat, Agatha, who he loved very much.

There will be no services, but there may be a celebration of life at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to any mental health organization of your choice or Seneca County Humane Society.
