Betty Sedlock Obituary

Betty J. Sedlock

Jun 19, 1933 - Mar 21, 2025

Norwalk

Betty June (Heckelman) Sedlock, 91 of Norwalk, formerly of Berlin Heights, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at Norwalk Memorial Home.

She was born June 19, 1933, in Berlin Heights, to the late William and Eva (Davlin) Heckelman.

Betty spent the majority of her life in Berlin Heights. She graduated from Berlin Heights High School in 1952. Following graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Sedlock, on August 30, 1952, while Tom was on military leave. She had such a love for Tom that she passed away 11 days following his death. One of the last things she said at his funeral was "I will always love you forever, Tom."

She was a member of Berlin Heights First Congregational United Church of Christ and a member of The Fire Debs. Betty spent many hours with her three children as a stay-at-home mom. She later worked at Berlin Fruit Box and at Berlin Schools as a food service worker. Betty enjoyed being outdoors and working in her flowerbeds. She could always be seen attending to her bird feeders and spending time sitting watching the birds. She loved to thrift and was always looking for a deal. Holidays were very special to Betty. Each had a different family tradition and lots of decorations. Finally, whenever she had extra time, she was spending it with family and friends. Betty was able to spend some quality time with lifelong friends and family at Tom's funeral.

Betty is survived by her children, Deborah (David) Houghtlen, Tammy (Michael) Sommers and William Sedlock; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Sedlock on March 10, 2025; siblings Patty Heckelman, Paul Heckelman Sr, and Jeanette (Heckelman) Earl; daughter-in-law Beverly Sedlock.

Per Betty's request, private family services will be at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South St., Berlin Heights, with burial to follow at Riverside Berlin Heights.

Memorial contribu-tions may be made to Berlin Heights Historical Society, PO Box 175, Berlin Heights, OH 44814.
