Blanche Hurley Obituary
Blanche E. Hurley, 97, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday morning, May 22, 2025, at Elmwood at The Shawhan.
She was born December 9, 1927, in Seneca County, Ohio, to David and Florence (Webster) Morter. On June 26, 1954, she married James R. Hurley and he preceded her in death in 2012.
Survivors include her sons, Scott (Ruth Owens) Hurley and David (Nancy) Hurley, both of Tiffin; daughters, Anita (Kirby) Sniffen of Sycamore and Patti (Steve) Speck of Bowling Green; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Hurley of Upper Sandusky; sister, Margie Siegel of New Riegel; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, James Hurley; brothers, Lester Morter and Ted Morter; and sisters, Alice Luhring and Betty Hurley.
Blanche was a 1945 graduate of Melmore High School and then went on to graduate from Cleveland School of Nursing. She worked as a parish nurse and later retired as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital. She also co-owned Hurley's Market in Melmore with her husband. Blanche was a member of Melmore United Methodist Church and Nurse's Club, served as a board member for Habitat for Humanity, and she enjoyed square dancing with her husband in the T-Squares for many years.
Her Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, with Pastor Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery.
Friends may visit with family from 5–7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
Memorial contribu-tions may be made to SouthernCare Hospice, Melmore United Methodist Church, or Seneca Habitat for Humanity.
