Brad D. Kurtz

Brad D. Kurtz, 67, of Carey, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at home after an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 8, 1957, to Richard and Mary Jane (Brown) Kurtz.

Brad attended OLC school and was a 1975 graduate of Carey High School. Brad was a proud supporter of Blue Devils athletics. A man of strong faith, he was a life-long member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church where he was a Minster of Hospitality and member of Knights of Columbus council. Brad retired from Carey Fire Department and Carey EMS after over 20 years of service. Brad worked at Toledo Molding and Die and retired from Wyandot County Recycling Center.

He is survived by his sister, Jennifer (Bill) Coppler; brother, David (Nancy) Kurtz; and nieces and nephew, Tracy Dillon, Anita (Shane) Stechschulte and their boys Bennett and Bronson, Laura Conti and her son Bryce, Sarah (John) Schutt, Kristin (Jeremy) Stringfellow and their children Oliver, Reese, and Jameson, and Zachary (Kate) Coppler and their children Houston and Claire.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Kurtz; twin sister, Brenda Buhl; brother-in-law, Theodor Buhl; and niece, Gail Coppler.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey. Fr. Xavier Goulet, OFM Conv., will officiate. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Private burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Salem Township, at a later date.

To honor Brad's memory, the family requests donations be made to Knights of Columbus scholarship fund in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the care of Beach Funeral Home, 214 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio, 43316.
