Bruce E. Hayward

Bruce Eugene Hayward, 72, of Tiffin, passed away suddenly Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he and his wife were vacationing.

He was born March 29, 1952, in Tiffin, to Milford E. and Hannah M. (Buckley) Hayward. He married Sandra "Sandie" Burns on Feb. 14, 1979. She survives in Tiffin, where they lived for the entirety of their married lives.

Bruce's other survivors include his son, Charles Hayward of Findlay; daughter, Sarah (Chad) McCalla of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; brother, Jan Hayward of Bowling Green, Missouri; and seven grandchildren, Bailey Hayward, Lucas Smith Hayward, Layla Hayward, Avery Hayward, William McCalla, Anderson Hayward McCalla, and Nolan McCalla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ardis "Cookie" Iler.

Bruce was a 1970 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and attended both Heidelberg University and Wright State University. Throughout his life, he worked for many Tiffin hometown establishments, Jolly's, The State Hospital, and American Standard. Bruce retired from the Tiffin Post Office after more than 25 years in service. He then owned and operated B. Hayward Books on East Market Street.

Bruce's funeral will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Visitation for friends and family will be 3-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
