Carl W. Kern

Carl W. Kern, 87, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at Good Shepherd Home.

He was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Tiffin, to Anthony and Noreen (Lucius) Kern. He married Patricia A. Miletti on Oct. 15, 1960, and she preceded him in death Dec. 1, 2017.

Carl's survivors include his son, David (Kimberly) Kern of Tiffin; daughter, Michele (Eric) Magers of McCutchenville; three grandchildren, Jessica Garza, Hailey Magers, and Cameron Magers; and four great-grandchildren, Eliot, Roman, Ashton, and Luna.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alvin, Luke, and Francis Kern; sisters, Rita Kern and Mary Catherine Fox; and grandson, Danny Garza.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and 1955 graduate of New Riegel High School. Carl served in U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He worked as a caster for American Standard for over 40 years and President of American Standard Credit Union before retiring. While working at American Standard, Carl sold real estate for Hennessy Real Estate and later Walton Realty. After retirement, he continued to stay busy, delivering cars for Tiffin Ford around the country for over 20 years.

Carl enjoyed golfing, driving, and traveling along with his wife, Patricia, to Las Vegas, Branson, Atlantic City, Florida, and Canada. He was a member and volunteer at Knights of Columbus and donated to American Red Cross for over 25 years.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors by United Veterans Council.

Visitation for friends and family will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross or Good Shepherd Home.
