Carl Joseph Reiter

Carl Joseph Reiter, 90, of Fostoria, passed away at 4:43 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at his home.

He was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Hancock County, to John and Rose (Welly) Reiter. He married Linda Bennett on July 14, 1966, in Newport, Kentucky, and she survives him in Fostoria.

Carl is also survived by a son, Christopher (Ann) Reiter, of Fostoria; sister, Catherine (Paul) Naderer of Fremont; three grandchildren, Allison Reiter of Fostoria, Brittany (Ricardo) Galvan of Fostoria, and Laura (Brandon) Connin of Fostoria; and six great-grandchildren, Braysen Galvan, Jayce Connin, Wyatt Galvan, Jocelyn Connin, Kaydence Galvan, and Madilyn Connin.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Reiter; sisters, Joanne Walters and Joyce Sczesny; and two infant daughters, Laura Elizabeth Reiter (1968) and Susannah Elaine Reiter (1970).

Carl was a 1950 St. Wendelin High School graduate. He then proudly and honorably served his country from 1952-1954 in U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Retiring in 1987, Carl worked for Morgan AMT (former Union Carbide) as a health and safety supervisor. His favorite job, however, was delivering for Flowerland in Fostoria for 20 years. He served as President of Fostoria Athletic Boosters, was Exalted Ruler with the former Fostoria Elks Lodge, and current member of Elks Lodge in Findlay. He was a member of American Bowling Congress and Lifelong member of the USBC. In his leisure, Carl loved to golf.

Private family visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at HOENING & SON Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, with Fostoria United Veterans of Fostoria providing military honors. A private service will be at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fostoria Athletic Boosters or Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus.
