Carol Jean Hiett

Carol Jean "Jeannie" Hiett, 83, of Tiffin, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

Jeannie was born June 11, 1940, in Gibsonburg, to Paul Berwyn and Bertha Lois (Spanfellner) Ladd. She married Howard Ray Hiett on July 11, 1964, in Bell County, Texas, and he died Oct. 27, 2022.

Jeannie's survivors include two daughters, Teresa Traxler (Patrick Karcher) of Tiffin and Angelique Nelson (Timothy Rockwell) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; three granddaughters, Samantha (Kyle) Struble, Sarah (Marshall) Traxler-Lamming, and Sabrina Nelson; brother, Bernard Eugene "Ben" (Marilee) Ladd of Tiffin; sister, Rochelle Ann "Shelly" Miller of Tiffin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.

Jeannie was a 1958 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and attended Woodville High School into her senior year. She worked as a salesclerk at Kuebler Shoes, Lee's Shoes, Joseph's, and the Stage store, sang in choir, taught Sunday School and VBS, and was a member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church and Eastern Stars. Jeannie enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, and listening to and making music.

Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, until the time of Jeannie's memorial service at 11 a.m. at Family of Faith Lutheran Church located at the back of the Tiffin Mall. The Rev. Philip Moerdyk will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Family of Faith Building Fund.
