Charles M. Schauder

Charles M. "Chuck" Schauder, 87, of Fremont, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

Chuck was born July 28, 1936, in Tiffin, to Louis and Bess (Fisher) Schauder. He was a 1954 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and then served in U.S. Army from 1957-1959 where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Chuck married Judy Shiflet in April, 1960, and she preceded him in death Aug. 3, 2009. Chuck married Myrtle "Mertie" (Spence) Eversole on Jan. 8, 2011, and she survives. He was a supervisor at Crescent Manufacturing until he retired in 1996. He was a founding board member of Journey Church and an RV/MAPS Volunteer. He enjoyed woodworking, camping ,and ALL of "Mertie's" cooking. During his life, he loved being with family and friends. He was a man after God's own heart. His faith in Jesus defined every aspect of his life.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Mertie Schauder; children, Lezlie (Jeff) Kinder of Painesville and Todd (Diana) Schauder of Byron Center, Michigan; stepchildren, Pamela Wirth of Austin, Texas, and Steve (Debbie) Eversole Oak Harbor; stepson-in-law, Carlos Ollervides; sister, Norma Riepenhoff of Leipsic; five grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 22 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judy Schauder; son-in-law, Mark Fahl; infant brother, John Schauder; siblings, Margaret Patterson, Miram Roof, and Edward Schauder; and stepdaughter, Tami Ollervides.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, and 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, until the time of Chuck's celebration of life services at 10 a.m. at Journey Church.

Burial will take place at McGormley Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW and American Legion.
