Concetta "Tina" Schlachter

Concetta "Tina" Schlachter, 72, of New Riegel and Florida, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 25, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Tina's survivors include her husband, Carl Schlachter of Florida and New Riegel; son, Shawn Earl of Fostoria; daughter, Katie (Mike) Kozak of Columbus; stepchildren whom she loved and raised as her own, Brad (Jacqui) Schlachter of Findlay, Brian (Rachel) Schlachter of Lexington, South Carolina, Kevin (Kendra) Schlachter of Bettsville, Melissa (Brandon) Snyder of Tiffin, and Sheila (Jon) Thomas of Findlay; 13 grandchildren; and one grandson-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was born May 12, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, to Salvatore and Madeline (Pelletteri) Vicidomina. She married Carl Schlachter on Nov. 23, 2000. Tina was a graduate of Hempstead High School in Hempstead, New York, and earned her Bachelor's degree in Education at University of Dayton and her Master's in School Counseling at Heidelberg University. She started her career as a first-grade teacher at Lakota Elementary and retired after 29 years as a guidance counselor. Tina was very close with all her teaching friends. In 2014, Tina and her husband, Carl, moved to Florida and came back to New Riegel during the warmer Ohio months. She enjoyed volunteering at Community Hospice and CASA, knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and helping children. She was the best grandmother.

Tina's funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424, with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Frenchtown.

Visitation for friends and family will be 2-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment or FACT Seneca County.
