David DiCesare Obituary

David P. DiCesare

David P. DiCesare, 68, of Findlay, and formerly of Fostoria, passed away at his home Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Dave was born February 7, 1957, in Fostoria to Peter and Agatha "Peg" (Childers) DiCesare. He married Leslie Partee,, March 30, 1984, and she survives him in Findlay, along with their daughter, Elaine (Jon) Wisebaker and two grandchildren, EJ and Evan Wisebaker.

He is also survived by two brothers, Peter (Mona) DiCesare of Fostoria, and Frank DiCesare of Fostoria; a sister, Jane (Bob) McGee of Fostoria, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dave was a 1975 graduate of Fostoria High School. After graduation, he was honored to serve his country as a U.S. Marine from 1975 to 1979, during which he proudly maxed out his physical fitness test and won a large doubles tennis tournament while stationed in California. Up to the time of his death, he would say "Semper Fi" to all he came across wearing Marine attire.

True to his altruistic nature, Dave served the City of Fostoria with the Fostoria Fire Department for over 15 years. During his service at the fire department, he was presented with a Courageous Duty Award and a Key to the City in 1993 for his heroic actions in saving the life of a Fostoria police officer. Dave retired in 1996 as fire chief after suffering a severe injury in the line of duty.

Dave loved spending his time with family, especially his grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His family was the joy of his life, and he was their biggest cheerleader. He supported them in everything they did, from sporting events to school plays to just being an amazing husband, father, and grandpa. You name it, and he was there. He enjoyed sharing and telling stories with his grandkids, and they often requested, "Grandpa, tell us a story!"

Dave was a very personable, selfless man who never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime, about anything.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2025, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 1 p.m., with Pastor Jim Sharret presiding. Fostoria Fire Department will stand Honor Guard and will conclude the services with a Last Call.

Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, where Fostoria United Veterans will provide military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Geary Family YMCA, Fostoria.

Yesterday

I knew David growing up in Fostoria when he lived on Circle Drive. A group of us kids would play all sports together even if we were not that great. We had fun but lost touch when we went our separate ways in life. Fond memories of the days gone by. He will be missed and I will see him on the other side. I´m sorry for your loss but he is still remembered.
