Dennis R. Burkin

Dennis R. "Denny" Burkin, 77, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

Denny was born Nov. 13, 1945, in Clyde, to Roman and Clara (Winke) Burkin, who preceded him in death. He married Tracy (Aldrich) in Toledo and she survives in Tiffin.

Denny's other survivors include his children, Sean Burkin and Kelly Burkin; brothers, Don (Kathy) Burkin and Doug (Denise) Burkin; stepchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Husk, Benjamin (Jacklyn) Krugh, and Halley Krugh; and five grandchildren, Tanner, Evvie, Killian, Atticus, and Deacon.

Denny was in U.S. Air Force from 1965-1969. Denny served as a Fremont Police Officer for 33 years, including being Police Chief. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiffin, Bettsville American Legion, AmVets Post in Tiffin, and was a life-long member of NRA. He was very active with United Veterans Council, Funeral Honor Guard.

Denny really enjoyed riding his motorcycle and serving the public as a police officer and Air Force sergeant.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass at church. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin. Burial will follow services Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery with military rites being rendered by United Veterans Council.
