Dennis Blaine "Moe" Schultice
Dennis Blaine "Moe" Schultice, 76, died Friday, May 5, 2023, at Morrison House, Zanesville.
He was born June 4, 1946, in Caldwell, the second son of Russell and Neva Burt Schultice.
After graduating from Byesville High School in 1964, Dennis attended National School of Meat Cutting, Toledo.
In 1965, he enlisted in U.S. Army and served in Germany and Ft. Hayes in Columbus until 1968.
In 1969, he married his first wife, Maureen Dowling, with whom he had two daughters. He married Gail Nass in 1998 and had one son.
He enjoyed a long and satisfying career in food service, including 22 years with ARAMARK at Muskingum University, Tiffin University, and Heidelberg University where he had the opportunity to travel to college campuses around the country, meet Kenny Rogers, create beautiful ice sculptures, and elaborate campus dining options. He befriend many college students, faculty members, and staff. He served three years as head cook at Camp Presmont where he lovingly fed, encouraged, and inspired campers who knew him as Mr. Dennis.
Dennis was a member of American Legion Post 116, VFW Post 2901, DAV, and Duncan Falls Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder.
He was a proud veteran, devoted father, loving grandfather, avid baker, generous mentor, and good neighbor. He loved fishing, gardening, yard work, his dog and faithful companion Rube, Duncan Falls Presbyterian Church, preparing a good meal and the conversation that accompanied it, and telling childhood stories. He loved sharing stories - exaggerations included - about growing up with eight brothers and sisters in a house with few possessions, but a lot of love.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; two daughters, Leah (Michael) Rolling and Jen (Bryce) Bronner; son, Blaine; grandchildren, Caleb (Alayna) Rolling, Luke Rolling, Lydia Rolling, Isy Bronner, and Ty Bronner; stepchildren, Brian (Cherie) Nass, Melissa (Helmer) Nass-Flores, and Stephanie (Travis) Taylor; six stepgrandchildren; eight siblings, Jan (Janet) Schultice, Dave Schultice, Kay (Dale) Mesarchik, Joelene Sivadge, Becky (Doug) Bruner, Jeff (Kristan) Schultice, Trina (Mark) Paul, and Jean (Jim) Law; many treasured nieces and nephews who fondly called him Uncle Moe; and first wife and life-long friend, Maureen Schultice.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother, Charles Frederick.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Stop 9 Church of Christ, Byesville. Moe's funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the church with Evan. Mark Beros and the Rev. Darla Ravenaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville, with military honors conducted by Guernsey County Veterans Council.
