Donald Hovis Obituary

Donald Allen Hovis

Donald Allen Hovis, 75, of Bradner, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.

He was born July 16, 1947, in Fostoria, to Frank G. and Betty J. (Frazier) Hovis Jr. He married Judy L. Zimmerman on May 28, 1966, in Risingsun.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy; sons, Steven Hovis of Helena, James (Krista) Hovis of Kansas, and Tracy (Tammie) Hovis of Genoa; brother, Ronald (Mary Ann) Hovis of Risingsun; sister-in-law, Nancy Hovis of Bradner; grandchildren, Dalton Hovis, Seth Hovis, Alexandra (Derek) Hay, Andrew (Bree) Hovis, and Benjamin Hovis; and great-granddaughter, Addison Hovis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Betty; brother, John Hovis; sister, Leone and John James; and grandson, Holden Hovis.

Don was a 1965 graduate of Lakota High School. He was owner and operator of Don Hovis Excavating of Bradner and was a life-time farmer. He was a member of Sandusky County Sportsman's Club, Sandusky County Farm Bureau, and NRA. Don was an avid deer hunter.

Friends will be received 3-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne. A celebration of life service will be private Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Scott-Trinity Cemetery in Scott Township.

Memorial donations may be made to Bridge Hospice or Sandusky County Sportsman's Club.
