Doris Lortz Obituary
Doris Lortz, of Carey, passed away Sunday evening, February 23, 2025, at the age of 97, surrounded by her family. She was born August 26, 1927, to Joseph and Corrine (Frankart) Bouillon and graduated from New Riegel High School. On October 1, 1949, she married Ralph Lortz of Carey. Together, they raised six children.
Doris is survived by children, Michael (Vicky) Lortz of Wharton, Kenneth (Karen) Lortz of Carey, Mary (Charles) Eingle of Tiffin, Philip Lortz of Columbus, and Donna (Todd) Fagan of Wharton. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ellen (Carl) Hoffman; and sister-in-law, Rita Bouillon. Doris had 17 grandchildren; more than 30 great-grandchildren; and countless extended family members and friends.
In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Doris worked in the Salem School cafeteria for many years. In her spare time, she loved gardening, baking and crocheting. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salem Township, and Our Lady of Consolation Shrine, in Carey.
Doris was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ralph; her daughter, Lynette Perkins; grandchildren, Lorri, Chase, and Ryan Lortz; as well as siblings, Gerald (JoAnn) Bouillon, Jim (Mary Alice) Bouillon, Carl Bouillon, Josephine (Ralph) Kimmet, Bro. Rene Bouillon OSB, Floyd (Anna Elchert) Bouillon, Harold Bouillon, and Theresa Bouillon.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, celebrated at Our Lady of Consolation Shrine, Carey, with the Rev. Dais officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Salem Township.
For those who wish, memorials in her name may be made to Salem St. Joseph Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or the charity of your choice.
In her later years, Doris often commented that she hoped to be remembered as someone who was kind. May we honor her legacy by reaching out to others in kindness.
