Edward J. "Ed" Schwab II
Edward J. "Ed" Schwab II, friend to many and a life-long resident of Tiffin, died peacefully Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of 77, with his loving family by his side. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Rita (Longo); and his children, Angela (Erik) Belcher of Napoleon and Edward "Rocco" Schwab of Tiffin. Ed was affectionately known as PoPo to six adoring grandchildren: Evan, Aricka, Averie, Bryce, Blaine, and Maddox. He and Rita were proud godparents to Nikki Hills of Tiffin, Dani Maxwell of Monroe, Michigan, Brooke Dixon and Billy Krzyzak, both of Tiffin. They also were "adopted parents " to Shawn Stinchcomb of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by a sister, Denise Wonderly.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Roger.
Ed was born October 14, 1947, to the late Edward and Nora Schwab. Ed was a 1965 graduate of Calvert High School, where he met the love of his life, Rita. Eddie was very persistent in pursuing Rita, and finally, his warmth and charm won her over, and they were married October 15, 1971. They have spent the last 60 years together and have enjoyed life to the fullest. If you were lucky enough to be embraced by this family – you quickly realized that you were FAMILY, not friends.
Ed had a passion for hunting and fishing and was proud that he hunted or fished in every US state. He also had an incredible love for cooking. Ed was always creating new dishes and loved serving everyone. His specialties were his famous meatballs, along with spaghetti, salsa, and his variety of homemade wines. Ed's famous dishes were loved by many who attended The Pines annual fundraiser in Fremont and not to mention serving at St. Mary Church Festival.
Ed was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, as well as a life member of VFW Post 2858, Knights of Columbus No. 608, and AMVETS Post No. 48. Additionally, Ed proudly served his country for "365 and wake up" in Vietnam.
