Elizabeth Batey Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Batey

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Batey, 78, of Fremont, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.

She was born Nov. 1, 1945, in Tiffin, the daughter of Cecil and Kathryn (Kennedy) Warnement. Betty was a graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. She married David K. Batey on June 25, 1966, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiffin, and he survives.

Betty was a deputy clerk at Sandusky County Auditors Office for 23 years until she retired. She was a very active member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and volunteered at the school for many years. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed walking her dog and fishing with her husband. Betty's true love was to spend time with her family and enjoyed their Sunday meals together.

Betty is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Batey Sr.; sons, David (Kimberly) Batey of Perrysburg, Richard (Renee) Batey of Fremont, and Dennis (Stephanie) Batey of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Derek, Allison, John, Kathryn, Spencer, Alyssa, Morgan, Kylee, Austin, Ansley, and Addison Batey; and siblings, Marjorie (Gerald) Brickner of Bettsville and Robert (Joann) Warnement of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Kathleen Tiell and Dorothy Brickner.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, with visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont.

Memorials can be made in her honor to Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools.
