In Christmas 1997, I recall that I stylized this photo making Erik fashionable with my winter scarf and matching t-shirts from San Francisco with his brother, Bradley. The Greenwald family informed me of his untimely passing & my heart is breaking. Hearing this sad news, I hope the Heilman family finds peace & much understanding with healing. God bless the family in this delicate time, RIP Erik, Love Uncle Steve

Erik was always such a kind person. He and I were classmates back at Old Fort. I remember he was in my class often throughout elementary school so I got to spend a lot of time around him. As we got older I did not spend as much time around him, but when I did I really noticed that he started to open up. I remember how much fun he had at prom despite his initial unease at the concept of going. I noticed how hard he would try in gym class despite his limitations. I can recall how excited he was to share stories and have drinks with his old buddies at our class reunion... He was a kind soul gone far too soon and it is a reminder that life isn´t always fair to the good ones. Rest in peace old friend.

Erik was an important part of our Old Fort High School Class of 2012. I have fond memories of spending time with him in Mrs. Phillips´ 3rd grade class as well as playing golf with him in high school. He was a unique individual who was excitable and quick to laughter. I hope the years after high school were good to him. My condolences to Brad and his parents. His passing so young is unfair and I´m so sorry for your loss. Rest easy Erik.
