Ernestine (Tina) Ruth Myers was born March 6, 1937, to the late Frederick D. and Gertrude Reid Vance in
Sandusky, Ohio (Erie County). She was the eighth of 10 children. She was born, raised, and lived her entire life in Sandusky. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1955.
Ernestine Myers accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church, at the original location, 908 S Depot, and continued to be a dedicated and faithful servant for the last 75 years to Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was presented with a plaque November 6, 2022, recognizing Mother Ernestine Myers's many years of faithful, dedicated service to God, her family, and to Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She was married to her husband, Simon Myers, for 36 years. He built their forever house on Johnson Street for their family, and she lived in this house for 65 years, where they raised their three children, Tina P. (Alferd) Ray, Columbus; Alicia (Keith) Morris, Akron; and Jason (Carlier) Myers, Richmond Heights. This house was also a beacon of hope and opportunity for family, friends, and even strangers as countless meals, hugs, and love welcomed all. Ernestine loved her family and was known for her family gatherings, especially fish fries.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Simon Myers; her brothers, Frederick, Lafayette, and James Vance; her sisters, Elizabeth Gant, Edith Ellington, and Estella Greene.
Ernestine leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, William Donald Vance (Dannie) of Sarasota, Florida, and David Vance (Debra) of Sandusky; her sister, Joan Myers Sandusky; three granddaughters, Jamila Ray of Baltimore, Maryland, Janay Ray of Columbus, and Olivia Myers of Richmond Heights; two grandsons, Jabari Ray of New York, New York, and Jumaane Ray of Columbus; four great-grandchildren, Leonidas, Thales and Atticus Ray of New York, New York, and Juleean Jones of Columbus; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives, friends and church family.

Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St.,
Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
