Floyd Davis Obituary

Floyd W. Davis

Floyd Wayne Davis, 79, of Fostoria, passed to freedom above Monday, March 23, 2026, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, after a long battle with Lewey Body Dementia. He was a strong and loving man to the end.

He was born January 31, 1947, to Vera M. (Flowers) and Floyd H. Davis at their home near Enid, Oklahoma.

After graduating high school in Cherryville, Kansas, he enlisted in the Army and proudly served two tours in Vietnam, one with the 191st Helicopter Assault Helicopter Company, Greyhounds, and another with the 240th Assault Helicopter Company, Bearcats, earning numerous honors, including the Bronze Star Medal, The Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal "10", Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with a Silver and a Bronze Star, among many others.

After retiring from the Army after 20 years of dedicated service, Floyd earned a degree in Horticulture Therapy from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.

Floyd married Ruthy Davis September 4, 1987. They resided in Council Grove, Kansas, and later relocated to Manhattan, Kansas, where they owned and operated a moving business and an Antique Store before relocating to Ohio in 1999. Floyd later worked for Norton Manufacturing until his retirement.

He loved to travel, hunt in Kansas with friends, garden and spend time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed feeding his squirrels and caring for his beloved cats.

Over the years, Floyd attended as many of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association Reunions as he could, cherishing the time spent reconnecting with his fellow servicemen and lifelong friends.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; his only brother, Edward Eugene; a stepson, Bryan D. Ink; and a grandson, Christopher Ink.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruthy; a daughter, Terri Hall; stepchildren, Monica (Rodney) Cook and Jared (Melany) Ink; grandchildren, Logan Hall, Lexi Rogers, Cort Ink, Austin Haar, Amy Ink, Abby Barber, Brinley and Braxtin Ink, Jacob, Zachary and Lucas Leonard, Vinny Majoy, Jessica Lepley, and Ryan Cook; as well as nephews, Dennis and Daniel Davis; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Floyd had been a resident of Ohio Veterans Home Memory Care Unit in Sandusky for the past year and a half, previously residing with his wife, Ruthy, in Fostoria. There will be a service in his honor at Secrest Chapel at Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11 a.m., with family visitation at 10:30 a.m.

His ashes will be interred at Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, National Cemetery at a later date, where his father and brother lie at rest.
