Francis J. "Franny" Hammer

Francis J. "Franny" Hammer, 85, of Fostoria, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Monday July 25, 2022, at his home.

He was born Nov. 9, 1936, in Tiffin, to the late George and Mary (Sheeter) Hammer. He married Linda L. Kummerer on Sept. 19, 1970, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.

Surviving is his wife, Linda L. Hammer of Fostoria; three children, Francis (Christine) Hammer Jr. of Fostoria, Karen (Steve) Warner of Findlay, and Mark Hammer of Tiffin; and six grandchildren, Sidney, Reed, and Grant Warner, and Bryson, Henry, and Noah Hammer. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Kendra and her unborn son, Brian Hammer; brother, Robert "Bob" Hammer; and niece, Deborah Ann Hammer.

Franny was a 1954 graduate of Jackson-Liberty High School and served in National Guard from 1959-1965. He was a life-long Seneca County farmer. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish, New Riegel. He also had been a member and sang in St. Andrews Church choir for over 60 years and served on the board of directors of the Bascom Elevator for nine years.

Franny was a faith-filled man who dearly loved his family. He was easy going, had a good sense of humor, and an unique laugh. He was passionate about Case tractors, attending tractor shows, and bald eagle collectibles.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday July 28, 2022, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St, Fostoria, Ohio, 44830, and 10-11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022, at All Saints Catholic Church, New Riegel.

Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery, Liberty Twp.
