Franklin J. Stine

Franklin J. "Buck" Stine, 85, of Sycamore, passed peacefully in his sleep Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at his home.

He was born April 12, 1937, in Attica, to the late Franklin and Euvetus (Cook) Stine. He married Carol Schank on May 4, 1963, and she preceded him in death March 4, 1995.

Franklin's survivors include four children, Michael Edward (Theresa) Stine of Tiffin, Teresa Ann (Jim Ishmael) Stine of Tiffin, Roger David (Denise) Stine of Norwalk, and Gregory John (Lori) Stine of Forest; grandchildren, David (Breanna) Stine, Brandon (Whitney) Stine, Brock Hill, Weston (Morgan) Hill, Zachary Stine, Abigail Stine, Alexander Stine, Tiffany (Quentin) Strader, and Alexis (Dustin) Burns; 11 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Sandy Kieffer.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Monford, Louis, George, and Richard; and sisters, Helen, Jane Ann, and Marilyn.

Buck was employed at American Standard Company, Tiffin, for 42 years, retiring in 1995. He had padded his age on his original application, telling the company he was 18 when he was only 16 years old. This made him one of the longest known working employees that had ever worked at the "pottery." Buck enjoyed anything with a motor and especially race cars. He built cars and raced at local dirt tracks from 16 to 26. He was the proud owner of a Corvette that was once owned by Mario Andretti. He was a huge Tony Stewart and Mario Andretti fan.

As were Buck's wishes, a private graveside service took place Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
