Gary Huffman Obituary

Gary L. Huffman Sr.

Gary Louis Huffman Sr., 75, of Tiffin, was welcomed into Heaven Sunday, March 16, 2025, while holding his beloved wife's hand of 53 years. He was surrounded by the love and presence of his children and grandchildren.

Gary was born September 25, 1949. He was the loving son of the late LaVon L. and Louis J. Huffman of McCutchenville. Gary was also preceded in death by his older brother, Louis William Huffman; and younger brother, Cary Crist Huffman.

Gary married the love of his life and best friend, Judy A. Wise, July 3, 1971, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. Together they are the proud parents of Gary Louis Huffman Jr., Rhonda Ann Huffman, and Courtney Renee (Michael) Mersing. They were blessed with eight wonderful grandchildren, Joshua Claydon, Miranda and Breyden Huffman, Clairese and Emarie Huffman, and Brianna, Alaina, and Brennon Mersing. Adding even more joy to their lives, they are great-grandparents to Sophia and Louis Huffman, Ember and Isla Claydon, and another blessing due in September.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two angel grandchildren; and his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Hazel Wise.

Gary was a 1967 graduate of Mohawk High School. In 1971, he graduated from Tiffin University with a bachelor of administration, majoring in accounting. Gary was a member of Phi Theta Pi fraternity at the university. He was a dedicated employee of Kroger Company for a combined 49 years, where he was the head produce manager.

Gary was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a former Eucharistic minister. He volunteered as the head of the lunch stand at the St Joseph School Festival for many years. Gary enjoyed frequent road trips with his wife, golfing with his uncle Bobby, and being an attentive and caring papa to all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gary was the best husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Just heard today of Gary´s passing and services this morning. Last saw him at a Fremont Grove concert. Always admired him for his great personality and work ethics. A great family man. I was Produce manager in Fremont and spent lots of time with Gary ( KROGERING) at zone meetings and especially golf outings. Always enjoyable days when we were together. He will be missed.

So sorry for your loss of Gary. I knew Gary from Krogers. When he started the second time, we started a couple days apart. I always remember him having the best lunch packed. All the things that were really good for you. Always remember that an angel is near when a cardinal appears.
