Gene Reiter Obituary

Gene J. Reiter Jr.

Gene J. Reiter Jr.,75, of Tiffin, USN Retired, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 30, 2025, in Mercy Health - St. Vincent Hospital.

He was born January 15, 1950, in Fostoria to Gene J., Sr. and Gloria J. (Morgan) Reiter.

He is survived by his son, Shane (Sandee) Reiter and family in Florida; stepchildren, especially Anna Marie; sisters, Giselle Kuhn of Colorado and Genise (Randy) Swander of Canton; half sister, Lydia Wild of Australia; numerous nieces and nephews who loved him; and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Georgette and Jerry Shiets; and brother-in-law, Peter Kuhn.

Gene graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. After 21 years of service, he was honorably retired. He then served as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes and across Europe until he chose a quiet full-time retirement back home in Tiffin. He was a proud member of American Legion and other veteran organizations. He loved his family and country and would do anything to help his family and friends.

We cherished the time we had with him knowing he is in God's grace and comfort.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local veteran's organization.

Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

Condolences may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.hgmackfuneralhome.com.

On behalf of my entire family (Theresa, Chuck, Ken, Earl, myself, and Katheine), we wish to extend our sincere condolences for the loss of our cousin.
He would stop by and visit his Aunt Aggie often. He was always so kind to her.
May he rest in peace after a life well lived.
