George Houck Obituary
George J. "Sugar Bear" Houck, 84, of Tiffin, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.
Sugar Bear was born Dec. 15, 1939, in Norwalk, to George F. and Rosella K. (Blum) Houck. He married Rosemary (Fraley) on Dec. 27, 1979, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she preceded him in death Feb. 4, 2019.
Sugar Bear's survivors include his brothers, Ronald Houck and Paul (Greta) Houck, both of Tiffin; and two sisters, Mary (Tom) Younkin of Fostoria and Marjorie Kimmet of Toledo.
Sugar Bear retired from Honeywell in Fostoria. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was a 1957 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and an U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during Vietnam. Sugar Bear always remembered playing in the last Calvert and Columbian football game.
Mass of Christian burial will be 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass at the church. Visitation for family and friends will be 10-11:30 a.m. Friday at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Tiffin Calvert High School.

I remember George as always having a good-natured smile whenever he encountered any of his classmates. Sadly, we have lost another member of our Calvert class of 1957. My condolences to George's family.
