Gerald N. "Jerry" Babb

Gerald N. "Jerry" Babb, 80, of Fremont, formerly of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation in Green Springs.

He was born May 18, 1944, in Fostoria to the late Richard Frank and Ruth Alice (Filliater) Babb.

He is survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Barbara Waltermeyer, Linda Little and Ronald Babb.

Jerry attended Risingsun Schools and graduated from Lakota High School in 1962. He worked as a tool and die maker at Century Die Company in Fremont for 42 years. Jerry had many interests over the years. He owned and operated a horse stable for more than a decade, producing multiple award-winning show horses. He enjoyed caring for exotic birds, was a member of the Fremont Eagles Club and spent much time in his later years mentoring and helping local teenagers in his community.

Ask anyone who knew Jerry to describe him, and they'll mention how friendly and kind he was. Jerry was very engrained in his community. He cherished his connections with his family and his large circle of friends and loved telling stories about them to anyone who would listen. He was soft-spoken and generous and had a huge heart. Those who were lucky enough to know him already miss him dearly.

Visitation is 10–11 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2025, at HOENING FUNERAL HOME, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830, where the funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery.
