Gerald R. "Jerry" Poignon

Gerald R. "Jerry" Poignon, 86, of Tiffin, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 27, 2023, at Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital.

He was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Tiffin, to Ray and Ann (Burgholtzer) Poignon. He married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth J. "Betty" seifert on May 17, 1958.

Jerry's survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Poignon of Tiffin; son, Steve (Kara) Poignon of Loveland; daughters, Diane (Kevin) Reser of Tiffin and Deb (Kevin) Glatfelter of Florida; brothers, Paul (Janet) Poignon of Walbridge, and Jim Poignon and Joe Poignon, both of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, Geoffrey Reser, Amy (Richie) Hunter, Stephanie (Matt) Miner, Michael Poignon, Zachary Poignon, Danielle (Brandon Worley) Poignon, and Mandy (Noah) Baldwin; and eight great-grandchildren, Jason, Haddie, Laney, Nellie, Lilyann, Alayna, Mason, and Jared.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Daniel Poignon.

Jerry graduated in 1955 from Tiffin Calvert High School. He worked for over 40 years at National Machinery, retiring as Traffic Manager and was a member of Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed walking at Schekelhoff Park, fishing on Lake Erie, spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids, and camping with his wife at Myrtle Beach and Florida for over 35 years.

Visitation for friends and family will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, until the time of Jerry's funeral at 4 p.m. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883. The Rev. Matthew Rader will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or charity of the donor's choice.
