Gerald J. "Gerry" Ruffing

Gerald J. "Gerry" Ruffing, 68, of Attica, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at James Cancer Center, Columbus, after a brief, but courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

Gerry was born July 21, 1953, in Willard, to the late Wilbur and Martha (Schreiner) Ruffing. He married the love of his life, Marlene (Larimer) Ruffing in Attica on March 2, 1991. Together, Gerry and Marlene created a beautiful family.

Gerry is survived by his wife, Marlene of Attica; children, Heather (Frank) Carter of Attica, Taylor (Taylor) Wright of Gahanna, Jill (Joe) Stanley of Republic, and Abby Daniel of Norwalk, 11 grandchildren, MaKenna, Jaxon, Ashlee, Ryleigh, Reigan, Gage, Elliott, Asya, Brielle, Lyric, and Justice; three brothers, William (Susan) Ruffing of Attica, Robert (Janet) Ruffing of Republic, and Dennis (Diana) Ruffing of Republic; and sister, Paula (Curtis) Karr of Attica.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Jason Ruffing.

Gerry retired from R.R. Donnelley and Sons, Willard, in 2013 and was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Attica. He was also of a member of Attica American Legion Post 260, Attica Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, and Attica Fair Board. He enjoyed Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns, camping at Tall Timbers, watching NASCAR, and will be remembered as being a Master Griller. Gerry was a 1971 graduate of Attica High School and was an Air National Guard veteran.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2022, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Attica, with the Rev. Joseph Joseph officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, Bloomville, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Burial will follow the services on Monday at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Attica.
