Hazel G. Coppler-Rowles

Hazel G. Coppler-Rowles, 97, of Fostoria, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria. She was born March 14, 1928, in Carey, to Theodore & Mary (Feasel) Stark. She first married Donald R. Coppler, September 17, 1949, in Fostoria. He passed away October 25, 1996. She later married James L. Rowles, November 11, 2000, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church. James passed away in December 2000.

She is survived by 64 nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald R. Coppler and James L. Rowles; siblings, Ralph, James, Cecil, Robert, Aloys, Gervase and Theodore Stark Jr., Cindy and Protase Fox, Rita Murnen, Genevieve Johnson-Jordan and Rosemary Kovach.

Hazel worked for General Electric in Tiffin and retired from Honeywell in Fostoria. She was a graduate of Jackson Liberty High School and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where she was a Rosary Altar Society member, assisted with funeral dinners, and a Sunday collection counter.

She was also a member of Red Hatters Club, and volunteered with Hospice and Fostoria Hospital Gift Shop. Hazel was particularly interested in family genealogy. She made many new friends in exploring both the Stark and Coppler sides of the families. God had a plan for Hazel's life. While she was not blessed with children, many nieces and nephews had the privilege of embracing her as their "second mom." When they would visit her at Good Shepherd, she would introduce them and proudly say, "They are like my children." She meant it, and they felt it.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025, at

St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with the Rev. Joseph Poggemeyer officiating. Burial will be at St. Wendelin Cemetery, Fostoria. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Memorials can be made to Kaubisch Public Library or a Hospice/Humane Society of the donor's choice.
