Hazel Ruth Ferguson

Hazel Ruth Ferguson, 84, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital.

Hazel was born July 18, 1941, on the 7th Street Mississippi Levee in Cairo, Illinois, to Arlin and Frances (Hickerson) Ellis.

Survivors include her life partner, Karl "Woody" Guilkey of Tiffin, children, Pennie Atkins and Timothy Resor, both of Jackson, Michigan, Tami (Joe) Bell and Terry (Bryan Carson) Ferguson, both of Tiffin, John Platte of Westphalia, Michigan, Teresa (Tony Carter) Ferguson of Tiffin, and Trampas Ferguson of Cleveland; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Mickey L. Ellis of Texas.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Debra Tompkins; a son, Thomas Resor; a son-in-law, Doug Atkins; a brother, Alton "Buddy" Ellis; granddaughters, Tessa Lundy, Carissa Carter, and Katelynn Carson; and a stepson, Reuben Guilkey.

Hazel worked as a caregiver at the county home in Tiffin and Tiffin Development Center. She also worked at Rock Creek Cafe at Heidelberg for many years after her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, gardening, cooking, and hosting family cookouts. She shared great times with friends at the Bel-Mar and, most of all, cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Hazel always took pride in knowing that she helped raise her great-granddaughter, Rae-Ann Cornett.

There will be a Celebration of Hazel's life from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2025 at VFW in Tiffin.

Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Memorial contribu-tions made to the family will go towards Hazel's final arrangements and Shriners Childrens Hospital of Chicago.
