Henry E. "Hank" Frey Jr.

Henry E. "Hank" Frey Jr., 87, died peacefully Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at his home in Tiffin.

He was born Aug. 4, 1936, at Tiffin Mercy Hospital, to Henry E. and Mildred (Gardner) Frey. Hank graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1954 and went on to Case Institute of Technology (now CWRU) in Cleveland. He graduated in 1958 with a BS in mechanical engineering. While there, he joined Beta Theta Pi fraternity and ASME and enjoyed singing in the glee club.

Hank married Carol E. Bair on the happiest day of his life, May 2, 1959, in Marion, and she survives.

He is also survived by their two children, Bradly of Austin, Texas, and Pamela (John) March of Cypress, Texas; two grandchildren, James (Jaclyn) March of Lafayette, California, and David (Kendra) March of Newark, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren, Delilah, Anson, Joanna, and Ellory March.

Hank started working for National Machinery in high school and returned there to work as a design engineer after completing college. He retired from National Machinery in 1997 as Product Engineering Manager. He obtained his professional engineer's license in 1963.

Hank was a life member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he taught Sunday School for 17 years, sang in the choir, and served on church council (twice as President) and on various committees and groups.

Hank was a member of Tiffin Lodge #77 Masons, a 32nd degree member of Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, and member of Zenobia Shrine.

After retiring, Hank volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and at Mercy Hospital and Mercy Cancer Center. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Amvets Golf League. Hank enjoyed watching baseball, college football, and basketball.

Hank's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. Karsten Snitker and Hank's cousin, the Rev. Mark Frey officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Burial will be private at Bethel-Southbend Cemetery, McCutchenville.

Visitation and a time to share stories with the family will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
