Herbert Edward McClellan

Herbert Edward McClellan, 85, of Tiffin, died at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

He was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Tiffin, to Herbert L. and Marie (Peer) McClellan. He married Karen Bacher and she is deceased. He then married Catherine Davis and she died in 2001.

Herbert's survivors include two daughters, Christine (Ron) Markle of Fishertown, Pennsylvania, and Teresa (Kevin Hoerig) McClellan of Tiffin; stepdaughter, Cheryl Baxter of Florida; stepson, Kenneth (Janice) Dunmire of Texas; two grandchildren, Tonya (David) Reaugh and Kyrya (Cheyenne) Ranker; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, John (Chris) McClellan of Fremont and Richard (Betty) McClellan of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; son, Donald McClellan; sister, Patricia Depinet; and beloved dog, Sadie.

Herb was a graduate of Calvert High School. He served in U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he earned his captain's license. He retired from National Machinery. He was also a blacksmith by trade and owned a blacksmith shop. He served many area fairgrounds as a farrier. He attended both St. Mary Catholic Church and First Lutheran Church and was a member of Tiffin Moose and Nugent's Yacht Club. While he lived in Ohio City, he served as an EMT/Firefighter.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, until the time of Herbert's funeral at 2 p.m. at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-3113. The Rev. Matthew Rader will officiate. Burial will take place at Seneca Memory Gardens immediately following the service.
