Jacqueline Davis Obituary

Jacqueline Jean Davis

Jackie Davis, daughter, mother, wife, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, persisted and defeated a war against cancer surrounded by her loving family Thursday, July 20, 2023.

Jackie was born June 18, 1984, in Upper Sandusky, to Tamela (Adkins) Dewald, who along with her father, David Dewald, lovingly know and share the stories of Jackie's determination, joy, and beautiful spirit. She graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 2002 and also attended Heidelberg University and Indiana University Southeast (New Albany, Indiana).

In 2003, she began a journey of love, meeting and then marrying Duane Davis on July 24, 2004. He will always carry her loving legacy, selfless love, and joyous spirit to others. During their 20-year relationship and 19 years of marriage, they brought three daughters into the world and along with them on their journey. Destiny Jean (2003), Torrance Danielle (2005), and Sophia Kay (2007), all who remain at home and will continue to share Jackie's compassion, determination, humor, honesty, and Christ-like love with those in their lives.

Jackie truly had a ministry. In her journey from Ohio to Indiana and to South Carolina, countless stories of her love for others are spread over her life of service. She served as PTO President for Bradie Shrum Elementary School and activities coordinator for Southern Hills Church (Salem, Indiana). She was also the long-time coach of the Salem Middle School Cheerleading Team and Spirit Club. She was a proud supporter of Amor Domini Christian Film Ministries, with production credits in multiple Christian films and a role in the film "Timbertown" (2019). She was also on the board of Directors for the Washington County Actors Theater (Salem, IN), receiving alliance honors for her work. In these roles, she had an active quest in shaping the lives of countless youths, leading many to better lives and also to the love of Jesus.

Living a dream to be near the beach, the family relocated to South Carolina in 2021. In South Carolina, Jackie began a new mission field in the Administrative Offices of Georgetown-Kraft Credit Union.

She is remembered in her time at GKCU for being a mom-like figure to her peers and those who spoke with her daily, injecting laughter and a guiding spirit. She was deeply loved by those whose lives she touched every day. Jackie was also a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, lover of all things Disney, and plant and dog mom. She loved teaching people about plants and loving her dogs, Pip (in spirit), Sammy, Archie, Perdi, and Penny.

Jackie has won the war of her illness through faith and the love of many people who she has rejoined in Heaven and those who will carry on her legacy here.

She is survived by her parents; husband; daughters; brother, Joseph (Alyssa) Taylor of Fremont; sister/cousin, Anna (Charlie Baker) Vogel of Carey; uncle, Bill (Aunt Sheri St. Clair) Adkins of Carey; and multiple nieces, nephews, loving and close brothers and sisters-in-law, and a big cherished family.

Jackie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilma and Bob Adkins.

Jackie, a saved Christian, leaves behind a legacy of countless people who can attest to and share her ministry of strength and love, a presence that is still with all of them and light that will carry with them forever. Her family is thankful to all who have been so kind and caring during Jackie's journey.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service occurred at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Pawleys Island Beach (South Carolina). A memorial visitation of her life will be 2-6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin. Jackie's service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment of her ashes will be at Fairmont Cemetery, Tiffin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Davis Family Fund at Georgetown-Kraft Credit Union (South Carolina or through PayPal at paypal.me/jackiedavisfund), the Washington County Actors Community Theater (Salem, Indiana), or charity of the donor's choice.
