James Carles Obituary
James Freeman Carles Sr., 84, of North Baltimore, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green.
He was born May 14, 1938, in Bowling Green, to Oliver Freeman and Hazel Katherine (Campbell) Carles. He married Marilyn A. Dickerson on Oct. 16, 1964, and she preceded him in death Oct. 17, 2013.
James is survived by two sons, James Carles Jr. of Virginia and Joe (Michelle) Carles of South Carolina; daughter, Ginny (Terry) Brashear of North Baltimore; stepson, Jerry Root; 10 grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Tirey, Aaron (Danielle) Clemans, Alexa (Ben) Farley, Jordan Carles, Jesse Carles, Angela Knox, James Thomas Carles, Ashley Brashear, Joshua Brashear, and Justin Brashear; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and stepson, Timothy Root.
James was a U.S. Army veteran and member of North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.
James' funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore. Burial will be at Rudolph Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wood County Humane Society.
