James Hartsel Obituary
James "Bill" Hartsel, 92, of Bettsville, passed away at 9:01 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at Valley View Care Center in Fremont.
Bill was born April 8, 1930, in Bettsville, to the late Frank and Hazel (Semer) Hartsel. He married Jean Louise (Nau) on Oct. 22, 1949, in Burgoon, and she preceded him in death Aug. 29, 2015.
Bill's survivors include three sons, Michael (Sandy) Hartsel of Fostoria, Jamie (Tera) Hartsel of Bettsville, and Joe (Julie) Hartsel of West Liberty; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Dana) Kidwell, Holly Hartsel, Andrew (Raven) Hartsel, Ryan Hartsel, and Samantha (Chris) Anstead, Hannah (Matt) Crissman, Addy Hartsel, and Katie (Nic) Oehler; three great-grandchildren, Lucian Kidwell, Nevaeh Hartsel, and Xavier Hartsel; brother, Tom "Tice" Hartsel; and two sisters, Janice (Paul) Snell of Bettsville and Shirley (John) Kosta of Burgoon.
Bill worked as a supervisor for 37 years at Whirlpool, Clyde, and retired in 1989. He was a Bettsville Volunteer Fireman, Little League baseball coach, and former member of Bettsville City Council. Bill was an avid Ohio State football fan who enjoyed golfing and camping. Most of all, he loved attending all his grandchildren's sports and activities.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, Teddy Lee and Greg Hartsel; and brother, John Hartsel.
Bill's graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort.
Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Bettsville, is assisting family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bettsville Fire Department.

Sorry to hear about Bill, he was a good man and friend. I enjoyed serving with him on council for 6 years. He will be missed, my sympathies to the family.
