James Phillips Obituary
James Robert "Jim" Phillips, 80, of Lima and formerly of Tiffin, passed away Monday morning, January 13, 2025, at The Springs of Lima.
On August 23, 1944, in Tiffin, he was born to Robert F. and Martha E. (Steyer) Phillips. He married Patricia J. "Pat" Frisch on July 23, 1966, and she preceded him in death September 02, 2008.
Jim is survived by his sons, Stephen Phillips, of Spring, Texas, and Gregory (Danice) Phillips, of Lima; sisters, Nancy (Terry) McKillip of Florida and Jane (Bill) Sheeley of Tiffin; sister-in-law, Judy Phillips of Indiana; grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Andrew, Alexander and Kaitlyn; and his dear friend, Lois Studer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ron Phillips and Bill Phillips.
Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a 1963 graduate of Calvert High School, and worked at National Machinery for 52 years, retiring in 2015. He was an avid golfer in his younger days, enjoyed dinner club and outings with friends and family, and liked to visit a good winery. Jim loved traveling to see the grandkids and trips to Amish Country.
His Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with family from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Autism Association.

I have many fond memories of "Big Jim" and the ones I will always remember are the mornings he would pick me up during our high school days. He would pull up in front of my house in his Willy's "Bermuda", honk his horn and wait for me. Well, many times it took several honks (I was seldom ready at our scheduled time). When I finally walked to the car expecting a justified irritation and what I got was shaking of his head and and a big smile. This simply defines my dear friend Jim Phillips. Thank you and Rest In Peace!
