Jane B. Wickham

Jane B. Wickham, 93, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.

Jane was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Tiffin, to R. Rule and Gretta (Sherman) Brundage. She married William T. Wickham on June 15, 1952, at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, Tiffin.

Jane's survivors include her husband, William of Tiffin; two daughters, Susan Jane (Terry) Walker of Lakewood and Mary Ellen (Ben) Lemberg of Oxford, North Carolina; son, William Paul (Kamala) Wickham of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Jacob and Leah Lemberg and Elizabeth and John Wickham; stepgranddaughter, Brittany Konsella; and brother, John C. Brundage of Tiffin.

Jane graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1948 and Heidelberg College in 1952. Jane had a long-term relationship with Heidelberg. Her great-grandfather, Byron Rule, was one of the community members involved in the effort to get the (German) Reformed Church to establish Heidelberg in Tiffin. Jane's grandmother, Jennie Rule, graduated from Heidelberg in 1891 and she married E.C. Brundage, who also attended Heidelberg. Their son, Rule Brundage, graduated from Heidelberg in 1922. Jane graduated from Heidelberg in 1952 and married William Wickham who graduated from Heidelberg in 1951. William's father, Dr. Terry Wickham, who was Heidelberg alum of 1920, was President of Heidelberg at that time. Jane and William's daughter, Susan, graduated from Heidelberg in 1978.

Jane was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin and its Mothers' Circle, Keenagers, and Trinity Woman Together. She belonged to Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and was a life member of Seneca County Genealogical Society. Jane enjoyed playing games and was in bridge clubs for many years. She lived in various states with her husband and family and returned to Tiffin in 1977. She joined Tiffin-Seneca County Library shortly thereafter. Jane retired from Tiffin-Seneca County Public Library in 1997, where she specialized in local history and genealogy. Jane was thoughtful and kind and most of all she loved spending time with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Joseph; and brother, Robert S. Brundage.

Jane's celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Trinity United Church of Christ. There will be a private family burial at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin, is assisting family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heidelberg University.
