Janet Houk Obituary

Janet L. Houk

Janet L. Houk, 75, of Tiffin, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

Janet was born Feb. 19, 1948, in Tiffin, to Richard and Hazel (Rodgers) Sheffel. She married Richard L. Houk on April 29, 1967, in Tiffin, and he survives.

Janet's other survivors include her daughters, Yvette (Mike) Palomo of Fremont and Heather (Ken) Butler of Republic; three grandchildren, Austin Butler of Republic, Isabella Palomo of Fremont, and Gabriella Palomo of Fremont; nephew, Travis (Stacy) Howard of LaPlata, Maryland; nephew-in-law, Danny Cusic of Waldorf, Maryland; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara (Dave) Knowles; and niece, Shelly Cusic.

Janet was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Job's Daughters, long-time member of WIBC, and long-time officer of Tiffin Women's Bowling Assoc. Janet enjoyed motorcycle riding, bowling, playing bingo, high school sports, and being with her family and friends. Once you met Jan "Houkie," you knew you had a friend for life. She was many things including a jokester, prankster, and loving and caring person. She especially enjoyed dressing up as many, many characters for others' entertainment. She was small, mighty, and a force to be reckoned with. She had the best laugh ever.

Visitation for family and friends will be 3-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin. Upon Janet's wishes, there will be no funeral as she has donated her body to Ohio State University for Science.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
