Janice Margaret Hoffbauer, 79, of Tiffin, Ohio, died at 8:04 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
Janice was born July 31, 1945, Lansing, Michigan, to Jouko "Jack" and Hilda (Kulhanek) Sarto. She married Leo Michael "Mike" Hoffbauer, August 14, 1965, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, and he survives.
Other survivors include children, Greg (Mindy) Hoffbauer of Springboro, Ohio, Laura (Dave) Avdakov of Englewood, Ohio, Brian (Elizabeth) Hoffbauer of Horton, Michigan; a former exchange student, Juan Gomez of Spain; seven grandchildren, Emma, Andy, Sarah, Alec, Jayden, Vera, and Juanjo; three brothers, Gary Sarto of Leesburg, Florida, Keith (Diana) Sarto of Columbia, South Carolina, Steve Sarto of San Diego, California; two sisters, Kathy Spicer of Columbus, Ohio, Celeste (Joe) Etzkorn of Loveland, Ohio; a half-sister, Nancy Childs of Grand Rapids, Michigan and a brother-in-law, Bill Russell of Toledo, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marcia Russell; and brothers-in-law, Frank Smith and Steve Spicer.
Janice was a 1963 graduate of Tiffin Calvert Catholic High School and attended Lourdes College. She was a freelance writer, which she enjoyed immensely. Jan was the Allen Eiry Senior Center Activity Coordinator, as well as a travel organizer for those living in the Tiffin area. She enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling, playing cards, chocolate, and she loved to order dessert first. Jan never met a stranger.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025, at TRAUNERO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at St. Francis Home Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, New Riegel, Ohio.
Memorial contribu-tions may be made to St. Francis Senior Ministries or a charity of the donor's choice.

Mike & family,
Our deepest sympathy and prayers on the loss of Janice, certainly a beautiful soul that brought so much kindness and love to this world! So glad we reconnected recently! Again, Mike, you certainly lived out your marriage vows so unconditionally and lovingly. Jan is now rejoicing with our loving God!! May she rest in peace!
