Jeannette Louise Ruess

Jeannette Louise Ruess, 85, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 7, 2024, at her home.

She was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Bellevue to Frank L. and Vera V. (Jones) Wing. On July 7, 1957, she married James Ruess.

Survivors include her husband, James Ruess of Tiffin; son, Gregory (Patricia) Ruess of Newark; daughters, Sharon (Wayne Imars) Ruess of Ashland and Roxanne (John) Manuel of Cary, North Carolina; brothers, Richard (Donna) Wing of California and Robert Wing of Michigan; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Shirley Wing.

Jeannette graduated in 1988 with a master's degree in education from Heidelberg University. She was the first student at Heidelberg to earn a master's degree. She loved teaching children to read and taught at Tiffin City Schools and many surrounding schools for over 30 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Jeannette was an avid reader, reading hundreds of books a year. She was a prolific knitter, crocheter and sewer, sharing her mittens, hats and quilts with local charities and Lutheran World Relief. Most importantly, Jeannette had a heart for serving others.

There will be no services at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church.
